All roads lead to Southpoint Finland – Western Uusimaa

So close, yet so different!

Western Uusimaa, the southernmost region of Finland, is located west of the capital region, along the Finnish south coast, between Helsinki and Turku. The distance is only a ½ – 2 hour drive from Helsinki and Turku and not much further from Tampere.

Western Uusimaa consists of the following municipalities:

  • Hanko
  • Ingå
  • Karkkila
  • Kirkkonummi
  • Lohja
  • Raseborg
  • Siuntio
  • Vihti

And why should you come to our region?

  • We are just a stone’s throw away from Helsinki and Turku and also within easy reach from Tampere.
  • We have quaint small towns and peaceful countryside.
  • A lot of cosiness and wonderful locally produced delicacies.
  • Our bilingual culture has developed for centuries.
  • Here you find Finland’s industrial cradle: The ironworks, with Fiskars setting the standard for modern design fused with traditional surroundings.
  • The sea and its outstanding archipelago, clean forest lakes and rivers to explore by canoe.

You can easily reach us by car, train, bus, bike or boat.

The closest airports are Helsinki and Turku. Should you wish to begin your journey towards Western Uusimaa by plane, you can find flight schedules here. Remember, the earlier you book the cheaper the ticket! It is also worth using the same airline on the return trip.

You can reach Western Uusimaa conveniently and in an environmentally friendly manner by train from Helsinki or Turku.

By coach you can reach even remote villages in Western Uusimaa. Matkahuolto has all the information you need on their website.

There are good ferry connections between Stockholm and Helsinki or Turku. From Tallinn and St. Petersburg there are ferry connections to Helsinki.

Bike enthusiasts can find maps of cycle routes in all well stocked book stores. Get on your bike to Western Uusimaa! Outdoors Finland describes bike routes in Finland, including Western Uusimaa. Also the Visit Raseborg webpages list some nice bike routes within the Raseborg area.
